Funeral services were held for Preston Clark “Clarkie” Pierce Sr., 82, of Lucedale on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at 1 p.m. at George County Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment followed in Tanner’s Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Dean Box, Bro. Larry Turner and Bro. Buster Holton officiating the services.
A retired Ingalls supervisor and welder at Ingalls Shipbuilders, self employed at Pierce Farm & Trucking, a member of East Central Masonic Lodge and a lifelong member of Tanner’s Chapel United Methodist Church, he died June 25. He was born April 11, 1937.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sarah Ruth Mayfield Pierce of Lucedale; daughters Tonya (Donald) Hembree, Regina Thompson, both of Lucedale; son James (Gail) Pierce of Lucedale; grandchildren William (Amber) Pierce, Kimberly Pierce, Leslie Pierce, Maria (Tommy) Peters, Matthew (Amber) Hembree, Stephanie (Kyle) Long, Monica (Eddie) Andrews, Rachel (Aubrey) Morrow, Jamie Pierce, Nicole Cook, Sarah Pierce, Krystle (Nick) Brekeen, Whitney (Johnathan) Mazingo and Sidney Thompson; and great-grandchildren Kynleigh Pierce, Presley Pierce, Cameron Warren, Camdon Warren, Caedon Warren, Maddisyn Pierce, Bryleigh Peters, Andrew Hembree, Madelyn Hembree, Sophie Klaire Long, Katelyn Andrews, Cody Andrews, Dacey Morrow, Piper Morrow, Lana Brekeen, Lane Brekeen, Ethyn Mazingo, Masyn Mazingo, Gavyn Mazingo and Colyn Mazingo.
He was preceded in death by his sons William Burnett Pierce and Preston Clark Pierce Jr.; son-in-law Roger Dale Thompson; grandson Timothy Ray Laird; parents Ollie and Essie (Tanner) Pierce; sisters Virginia Hamilton, Doris Trafton and Betty Lou Couch; and brother Lowell Pierce.
Pallbearers included Kyle Long, Eddie Andrews, Aubrey Morrow, Nick Brekeen, Johnathan Mazingo, Kelly Johnson, Christopher Pierce and Joe Key.
George County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
