Funeral services were held for Billy Merle “Wild Bill” McDowell, 62, of Gulfport on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Cowan Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment followed in Lily Grove Cemetery with Rev. Gary Hall officiating the services.
A member of Little Providence Baptist Church in Catahoula, he died May 24 in Gulfport. He was born August 11, 1953. To know him was to love him. He never met a stranger. It was never a dull moment when he was around.
He is survived by his two grandchildren; brothers Mike (Rose Marie) McDowell, Gary McDowell, Jimmy Earl McDowell, Mitch Moffett, Darrell (Rita) Lawrence, Alvin (Maria) Holmes, Anthony (Queenie) Holmes; sisters Stella McDowell, Brenda Saucier and Monica Holmes; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son Eric Johnson; parents Selven Lee Sr. and Vera Mae McDowell; biological father Wallace Holmes; brothers Robert “Richard” McDowell, Bobby McDowell, Selven Lee “Randy” McDowell Jr., Jeremiah McDowell, Terry Jack, Joe Holmes; and sisters Patsy Ruth McDowell, Betty Cole, Anita Holmes and Beverly Underwood
Pallbearers included Terrence Hess, Terrance Goff, David Bowens and James Gillum. Honorary pallbearers were Mike McDowell, Jimmy Earl McDowell, Gary McDowell, Mitch Moffett, Darrell Lawrence, Alvin Holmes, Anthony Holmes and Willie Holmes.
Cowan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
