Funeral services were held for Vera Mae Bush Barton, 79, of Lucedale on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Barton Baptist Church with visitation from 10-11 a.m.
Interment followed in Barton Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. James Sanders and Rev. Brad Howard officiating the services.
A retired teller and operations officer at the Bank of Lucedale, First City Federal and Magnolia Federal; a loving and devoted mother and grandmother; and a member of Barton Baptist Church and W.M.U., she died June 10. She was born December 3, 1939 in Laurel.
She is survived by her daughters Judy (Jim) McConnell of Lucedale, Darlene Barton of Hattiesburg; son Doug Barton of Lucedale; granddaughters Kimberly (Newton) King of Lucedale, Dawn (Aaron) Whitaker of Franklin, Tenn.; grandsons Ben T. Howell of Tullahoma, Tenn., Ray (Crystal) Ezell Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; six great-grandchildren; sister Sue Pates of Sandersville; and sister-in-law Arlene Bush of Lucedale.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Tommy Barton; parents K.O. and Minnie Lee Bush; sister Jessie Lee Pierson; and brothers Earl Bush, Ellis Bush, Elmer Bush and Ray Bush.
Pallbearers included Ben Howell, Blake King, Newton King, Les "Buddy" Williams, Matt Esser and Jamie Holland.
George County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
