Funeral services for Shafter Dunnam, 82, of Lucedale were held May 1, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Union Missionary Baptist Church.
He was born March 8, 1939 in George County. He was devoted to his family and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, riding his tractor and “big” family and church gatherings. He was a Mississippi National Guard veteran and worked in many positions in the industrial asbestos construction field. He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and taught the Men’s Sunday School class for over 40 years. He died April 29, 2021.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Elizabeth Weeks Dunnam; son David (Robin) Dunnam and daughter Kathryn (Chris) Keel, all of Lucedale; grandsons Johnathan (Melissa) Dunnam, Caleb (Lindsey) Dunnam, all of Lucedale, and Matthew (Morgan) Keel of Bainbridge, Ga.; great-grandchildren Morgan Dunnam, Braylon Dunnam, Samuel Keel, Bryson Dunnam, Tristan Dunnam, Macey Dunnam and Blake Dunnam; brothers Garland (Helen) Dunnam and Cecil Dunnam and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Dolly Dunnam; sisters Arlene Pierce and Verlene Burrough and brother Rayford Dunnam.
Officiating the services were Rev. William Dunnam and Rev. Terry Smith. Interment was in the Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnathan Dunnam, Caleb Dunnam, Matthew Keel, Willie Dunnam, Burnell Stringer and Ruben Rasberry.
George County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
