A graveside service for John Edward Bolen, 76, of Lexington, Ala., was held on May 4, 2020.
He was born May 14, 1943 in Lucedale and worked during high school to help support his family. He later moved to Huntsville, Ala., where he met his bride. They later moved to Lexington where he resided until his death. He died May 1, 2020.
He loved his family and was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed “piddling” in his shop, watching his grandchildren in sports and musical performances. He was a devoted Christian man and an active member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lexington. He was known as Big John by many, Paw Paw by a select few and superman by his loving children. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Pat Bolen, and children Chris Bolen, Pamela Bolen (Michael) Pruet and Brian Bolen; grandchildren Chelsea Bolen, Paige Pruet, Cade Bolen and Pierce Pruet; great-grandson Cooper; brothers Jerald (Cheryl) Bolen, David (Ramona) Bolen and Wilburn Bolen of Lucedale and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded by his parents Iona Voncile Moody Bolen and William Solomon Bolen of Lucedale; brother Hilton Bolen and sister Annette (Jay) Taylor.
Elkins Funeral Home of Lexington was in charge of arrangements.
