Funeral services were held for Rev. Alford Walters, 89, of Jackson County on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 1 p.m. at George County Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

  Interment followed in Agricola Cemetery with Rev. Bill Harley officiating the services.

   A welder at Ingalls Shipbuilders for 26 years and a minister in the Pentecostal faith, he died May 19 in Jackson County. He was born November 23, 1929 in Jones County.

  He is survived by his son Billy Walters of Hurley and grandchildren Stephanie, Joshua, Johnathan and Jason.

   He was preceded in death by his sons Alfred Eugene Walters and Joey Mitchell Walters; mother of his children Mary Elizabeth Walters; parents Evender and Fannie Manaly Walters; and brothers Everett C. Walters, Lee D. Walters and Elvin Walters.

   George County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
