Funeral services for Robert Louis Kemps, 52, were held at 11 a.m. on July 16, 2021 at Cowan Funeral Home. He was born Nov. 19, 1968 in Sturgis, Miss. He attended Starkville Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1987. At an early age, he united with Mount Peiler M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. O. C. Brand After he moved to Lucedale, he united with New Ship African Methodist Episcopal Church. He never grew tired of working for the Lord. He served in the Usher Ministry and helped whenever he was needed. On June 23, 2013, he delivered his dissertation at New Ship AME Church under the leadership of Rev. Issac Acquah. He was also a member of Deborah Masonic Lodge #276. He was a veteran of the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He was also known as a master griller. Some in the community said he was the go-to person if you wanted to know how to do anything. Family and friends said he never met a stranger. He loved his family and the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was his desire to prepare his nephews for life and to hunt and fish. He died July 9, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife, Alveetia; nine grandchildren; father John Tucker, sisters Anita (Rev. Melvin C. Ambrose), Marcia (Jammie) Pearson, brothers Carlos (Shirelle) Kemp, Rev. Charles (Norma) Kemp; aunt, Vera Larry and uncle, Willie James Tucker and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He will be missed by many cousins and other relatives. He was preced in death by his mother Geraldine Kemp; brother Willie George Kemp; grandparents Isaiah and Lillie Mae Kemp; and uncles Curtis Elliot, Robert Lee Kemp and Harold Kemp Sr. Cowan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
