A Katrina Revelation

My mother, Evelyn Frances Stringer Brown, maintained her home on a small farm five miles southeast of Lucedale in the farming community of Ward until June 19, 2005, her 97th birthday. She had lived alone since my father Grady C. Brown died in May 1981. She was assisted by my sister Marilyn Frances Brown Bounds, who built a home nearby soon after Daddy died.

A Thanksgiving With Guilt
Posted: December 04, 2013

The truth is...when my friend was hurt, it wasn't easy to stop crying, but it was easy to stop talking. I'd witnessed an attack on a special friend, but I was also frightened of the two girls (bullies) who hurt Suzie. They had threatened to beat me up if I told anyone who they were. We were in the second grade and I was a coward. I left school without permission and ran to my grandparents’ house and got under the covers in the middle bedroom. At that moment I decided to stop talking so I wouldn't have to tell anyone who hit Suzie. When I pulled the covers back from over my head, I pretended my voice was gone.

There's a lot of profiling going on in my household. How about yours? I'm falsely accused of crimes I don't commit.

Grin ‘N’Bare - You Gotta Love 'Em
Posted: October 02, 2013

I'm officially filing a report on our blue heeler (Australian cattle dog). Those of you who are dog people are welcome to file your dog report at the address below. To tell the truth I could listen to dog and cat stories all day. Pets can raise our spirits. They can also pull the rug out from under us-in more ways than literally ripping it to pieces.
