Small army of volunteers place flags on graves

Posted: Thursday, May 24, 2018 9:00 pm

An estimated 1,400 American Flags will somberly flutter in the warm Memorial Day breeze, close to the graves of George County veterans, thanks to a small army of volunteers.

“We have around half of the members of Post 53 involved, along with the local Boy Scout troop,” said Jimmy Trussell, a member of American Legion Post 53 in Lucedale. Trussell is also a local historian and recorder of county graves and cemeteries.
