Local agencies conduct large water rescue operation

Billed as the 2018 Mud Bug Bash, complete with live music and free crawfish, ATV enthusiasts at Red Creek Off-Road may have gotten a little more mud and water than they bargained for. The three-day event, at the off-road park on Vestry Road in southwest George County, drew more than 1,000 people who wanted to get wet and muddy riding their ATV’s through the trails, mud holes and ponds of the facility.

Everyone knew torrential rains were in the forecast. Current weather conditions are reported on the park’s home page. As other events for the weekend, including the Sheriff’s Golf Tournament, Relay for Life, among them were being cancelled, the Mud Bug Bash went on as scheduled.
