What'’s New at the Library?

Any time the delivery van brings a box of new books, it’s like Christmas morning at the library. . . and today TWO boxes were delivered!

**Just in time for the observance of Black History month in February is My Father’s War: Fighting With the Buffalo Soldiers in World War II.

This book tells the compelling story of the 92nd Division of the 4th Army, the only African American infantry division to see combat in Europe during 1944-45. During the nine months of combat, the 92nd Division saw some of the most brutal fighting of the war on the Italian front.

**Another timely arrival, with President’s Day coming up on Feb. 17 is Don’t Know Much About the American Presidents.

Author Kenneth C. Davis’ humorous and often irreverent writing style makes this book entertaining as well as informative. Davis memorably portrays the Presidents as very real people.

**The cold winter months always seem to be a good time for organizing and cleaning inside the home. A couple of new books just suited to these projects are The House that Cleans Itself: 8 Steps to Keep Your Home Twice as Neat in Half the Time and I Have Nothing to Wear! A Painless 12-step Program to Declutter Your Life So You Never Have to Say This Again!

**On the other hand, if you can hardly wait for spring so that you can get outside and start on those garden chores, you can plan ahead with Electric Fencing: How to Choose, Build & Maintain the Best Fence for your Plants and Animals; Southern Fruit and Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow and Harvest the Best Edibles; and Making Your Vegetables: Germinating Heirloom Seeds and Growing the Organic Way.

**Many people enjoy reading a good animal story, and two that have just arrived are Mike the Tiger: The Roar of LSU and A Dog’s History of America: How Our Best Friend Explored, Conquered and Settled a Continent.

You don’t have to be a LSU fan to enjoy reading about the mascot who is the only live tiger to reside on a college campus. School history, accounts of the six Mikes to date and information about tigers in general, contributes to this engaging book, no matter what your athletic allegiance.
